Dubai: The Ultimate Luxury Vacation

The rich and luxurious city of Dubai is certainly a spectacle to see in the United Arab Emirates. The city is well-known for its extravagant hotels, bright lights, and top-notch food from chefs all around the world. In the past few years, Dubai has received a lot of international attention for it’s luxurious getaway spots, and according to Reuters, the number of foreign tourists visiting Dubai in the first half of 2017 rose by 10.6 percent!

Are you curious to see what all the fuss is about? Below are some of my favorite reasons why I think Dubai is the ultimate luxury vacation.

Gaze at the Dubai Miracle Garden

Located in Downtown Dubai, the miracle garden is an insanely beautiful sight to see. With about 100 million blooming flowers in every color of the rainbow, the miracle garden is elaborately arranged to feature large flower structures in the shapes of hearts, flowers, and even airplanes. In fact, their Airbus A380 flower structure holds the record of the largest flower arrangement and/or structure in the Guinness Book of World Records!

Marvel at Dubai Fountain Show

After a long day of shopping at the Dubai Mall, settle in for an insane show at the world’s second-largest choreographed fountain. With water shooting up 140 metres high choreographed to music, 6,600 lights, and 25 colored projectors, the show is a spectacle to see. Set on the 30-acre manmade Burj Khalifa Lake, the Dubai Fountain was designed by the same company that created the famous fountains at the Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas, Nevada, the United States.

Try the Most Expensive Ice Cream in Dubai

The temperatures can really be sweltering if you’re vacationing in Dubai. You can cool down by enjoying the most expensive ice cream in the city at Scoopi Cafe. The cafe’s signature dessert, called the ”Black Diamond,” is a sundae made with a basic vanilla bean ice cream imported from Madagascar, but the toppings are what make the sundae over-the-top. Dusted with saffron imported from Iran, rare black truffles from Alba, Italy, and 23-carat gold flakes and powder, the dessert will cost you 2999 AED.

Stay at the Glorious Burj Al Arab Hotel

This hotel built on a manmade island is certainly a sight to see because the hotel is uniquely shaped like a sailboat ready to make its way out to sea! The interior of the hotel is just as nice, considering each private suite comes with two floors and a team of butlers. If you’re feeling even more opulent, the four-floor Royal Suite features a four-poster bed rotating on a pedestal and stairs made of marble and gold.

Automaker Profile: Koenigsegg

The beautiful country of Sweden is known for it’s tasty chocolate, their envious work-life balance philosophy, and fantastic engineering — more specifically their fantastic auto engineering. You’re familiar with names like Volvo and Saab, but have you heard of Koenigsegg?

The luxury automaker builds high-tech hyper cars that are fast, furious, and equal parts colorful and equal parts luxurious. However, what stands out most about this car company is its humble beginnings, their excellent craftsmanship, and their records that show it all.

The Beginnings of a Great Company

Twenty-two year old Christian von Koenigsegg was on a mission to create the perfect sports car that flawlessly entwined technology and innovation with the signature luxury looks of a sports car. The prototype of the first model, named the CC, was taken on a test drive to the swanky Cannes Film Festival in 1997. Reactions from film stars, movie critics and directors were overwhelmingly positive, due in part to the vehicle’s uniqueness in its detachable and storable roof that was fully integrated in the coupe shape. Since so many people requested this car, Koenigsegg put it into production. From that point on, the Koenigsegg Car Company was born.

Smashing Records

Since it’s inception, Koenigsegg’s cars have broken multiple records. When the company was just in startup mode, Koenigsegg’s CC8S model was awarded the title “The World’s Most Powerful Production Car Ever,” by Guinness World Records in 2002. That same year, Jeremy Clarkson of BBC’s television show “Top Gear” named the CC8S model to be his favorite supercar. Three years later, Koenigsegg’s CCR model — which was an evolution of the CC8S model — became the fastest production car in the world. After just a few short years of being in business, Koenigsegg’s unique designs, innovations and multiple recognitions launched the company even further than Christian ever imagined.

Their Philosophy

It’s easy to say that Koenigsegg has only one main focus for its cars: its performance. According to Koenigsegg’s website,

“Every aspect of the development process is focused on performance, not only in terms of power and speed, but in every deliverable. From powertrain to safety – every part must enable the car to deliver the best possible performance.”

Because Koenigsegg takes their performance standards seriously, careful thought goes into every single decision that’s made with the company. From materials, to staff hirings to the software and setup of facilities, Koenigsegg takes great care in producing a product they’re proud of.

Every Model is Made with Love

Because of Koenigsegg’s rigorous standards, every auto part in every model is made with great love and passion and is “painstakingly built by a select group of automotive artisans to the highest possible standards.” What’s even better about Koenigsegg? There are only about 40 “automotive artisans” employed by the company, meaning the staff can entirely be directly supervised by Christian himself.

Stay tuned to my blog for more automaker profiles!

The baggage is undoubtedly the most important luggage that you will take. And, whatever happens, it will be the one you take with you during the flight or in case the suitcases do not arrive at your destination in time, or for whatever reason. Therefore, putting these tips into practice will be very useful for your next trip.

First, choose the right size of your carry-on bag and make sure it is the one accepted by the airline you are traveling on. Usually, our hand luggage should weigh no more than ten kilograms and the dimensions must be 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm.

Afterwards, the first thing we have to do is a good list with everything we want to take several days before the trip, to write down the things that may be happening to us or erase those that we believe will not be so necessary. Remember that in this luggage you must store essential items, among which must be:

  • Complete clothing refill
  • Seedlings and underwear
  • Shoes
  • Bag with allowed
  • Medicines
  • Chargers for your electronic devices
  • Snacks

To begin with, choose spare parts that take into account the weather and the place of your destination and also introduce a pair of empty plastic bags to put the dirty clothes if you had to change in the plane. Once you have this in mind, try to keep things tidy. As a rule, it is best to put the heaviest garments on the bottom – trousers or coats – while at the top, we will place the lighter shirts and garments, or those that tend to wrinkle. The shoes can be placed on one side, taking advantage of any gap.

Another way to organize your clothes is to roll it up and place it as a puzzle so that everything is perfectly organized, occupying the minimum space. If the garments have pockets, you can use them to store socks and other things you carry on board.

If you are wearing electronics – which you are sure to do – protect them with covers and put them on the top of the suitcase, as you must remove them for safety checks. Do not forget your respective chargers!

In case the trip is very long – or you have to do night in some unexpected place due to scales, delays, etc. – it is highly recommended to carry in your transparent bag of liquids – no more than a liter of capacity, More than 100 ml – toothpaste, deodorant, moisturizing cream or even lip balms. Check that the boats are perfectly closed and use cellophane if necessary to avoid surprises.

Finally, do not forget your favorite snacks . Whenever they are not liquids – if you are traveling with children, the restrictions of liquids do not apply -, you can take something to eat during the flight in case they do not offer meals or it is a long flight in which you can lose some food or You do not like the menu.

Otherwise, close your suitcase: you’ll be ready to fly. Enjoy and, happy trip!

AsafZanzuriBestGolfCoursesMexico

The Best Golf Courses in Mexico

As a traveler and golfer, I enjoy exploring golf courses all around the world as well as in my backyard. Mexico boasts a few unique courses that are challenging and unique, but also capture the area’s natural beauty. Below are three golf courses that I think are the best in Mexico.

Riviera Cancun Golf Club

AsafZanzuriGolfRivieraCancun

Riviera Cancun Golf Club was designed and built by retired American professional golfer Jack Nicklaus and his international golf course design firm in 2008. The 18-hole, par-72 course is filled with ocean views, lush landscaping, and heavily contoured greens. And it will come as a surprise to you when I say that the golf course does not feature any homes or other distractions that have become commonplace on golf courses today!

When you pay for a round of golf at Riviera Cancun Golf Club, you will get the chance to indulge in an all-inclusive lunch before or after you tee off. Not only that, but the dining area is nestled among the beautiful scenery of the 18th hole. After an all-inclusive lunch and a day of golfing, feel free to explore the restaurants and hotels that populate the area. The golf course is located in the Hotel Zone, so there is plenty of nightlife to explore afterwards!

Mayakoba, Riviera Maya

AsafZanzuriGolfMayakoba

The Mayakoba golf course made history when it became home to the first PGA TOUR event, the OHL Classic, held outside of the United States or Canada. The OHL Classic has been held annually at Mayakoba since 2007. The tournament is considered one of the finest among professionals, and as such, the tournament is held at one of the finest golf clubs in Mexico.

As you’re making your way through the Greg Norman-designed course, you’ll get to marvel at its ecologically diverse beauty and while pondering about the professional golfers who have walked the greens before you. The par-71 luxury golf course spans 7,039-yards that highlights three diverse landscapes of the area: tropical jungle, dense mangroves, and oceanfront stretches of sand. Although the course may be difficult for the average Joe to play, Norman designed the course with all levels of player in mind. Each hole on the course is fitted with five different tee blocks, so players of all skill levels will have the chance to play this internationally acclaimed course.

Pacifico at Punta Mita Golf Club

AsafZanzuriGolfPuntaMitaPacifico

Also designed by Jack Nicklaus and his design firm, the Pacifico Golf Course offers views of white-sand beaches along the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre Mountains. The 7,104-yard, par-72 course features eight ocean-side holes, but that’s not what the course is most famous for.

The “Tail of the Whale” hole, a “19th par-3 hole” is notorious for being the only golf course in the world with a natural island green. Not only that, but the hole was engineered to be extra challenging by having an oceanside tee on the beach and shaping the green to reflect the shape of a whale’s tale. Speaking of whales, the course also offers golfers the chance to watch whales during their seasonal migration!

Have you played any of these holes? Let me know in the comments!

AsafCarMuseumsAroundtheWorld

Car Museums Around the World

As a lover of cars, I’m always keeping up with what’s new in the industry by frequently attending car shows all around the world. Although seeing the latest and greatest models can be amazing, sometimes reminiscing on cars’ history can be amazing as well. That’s why it’s a good idea to visit a car museum to unearth the rich history of cars. Below are three car museums around the world you can visit.

Mercedes-Benz Museum, Stuttgart, Germany

This 177,600-square-foot museum boasts over 1,500 exhibits and spans an astonishing nine levels! And there’s a reason why — the Mercedes-Benz Museum is the only car museum in the entire world that has a full comprehensive outline of its more 125 years of auto history. With so much rich history, there is not only one tour, but two tours that each examine the car models made and the history of the company!

The two-hour tours start at the very top of the museum, where visitors are transported back to 1886, where Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz developed the first automobiles based from the horse carriage concept. Throughout the tour, you’ll spiral your way down through history — viewing 160 cars in the process. Since there are two tours going on simultaneously, visitors are free to switch between the tours as often as they’d like.

Porsche Museum, Stuttgart, Germany

Once you’ve finished your tour at the Mercedes-Benz Museum, feel free to take a short ride over to the Porsche Museum. This futuristic-looking, $100 million building has about 80 cars on display that showcases the historical and technical achievements of the company. However, the museum’s most recent technological addition features an interactive 12-metre “Porsche Touchwall,” which invites visitors to research the company’s history by browsing through over 3,000 images. What’s even more amazing is that new content is imported daily, so there’s always something new to learn if you’re a frequent visitor!

Not only is the interactive touchwall frequently updated, but the museum presents special exhibitions that are changed on a regular basis as well. In fact starting this summer, “New tracks. Every Destination. Always Porsche.” will be on display from July 25, 2017 to February 25, 2018. According to the Porsche Museum website, “The special exhibition shows the development of the sporty SUV Cayenne across multiple storylines. With a wide range of interactive stations it focuses on off-road driving, fun and suitability for families.”

The Lamborghini Museum, Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy

What better way to experience a car museum than looking at luxurious sports cars all day at the Lamborghini Museum? The museum features cars chosen from Ferruccio Lamborghini’s personal collection: the only 20 Reventón models ever built, the Italian Polizia Stradale, which is one of the world’s fastest police cars; and the Aventador, which made an appearance in “The Dark Knight Rises.” The museum has only been open for about a year, so it’s definitely worth taking a trip!

AsafZanzuriImproveGolfSwing

How to Improve Your Golf Swing

Is your golf score too high for your liking? If you think hitting more balls on the range will give you the practice you need to lower your score, you might want to think twice and evaluate your golf swing instead. The golf swing is the single most important factor when improving your game, so instead of hitting more balls, you should take time to reevaluate and study your swing. Here are a few ideas that you can practice both at home and on the course.

Record Yourself to Learn from Your Mistakes

We all have weak spots that we’re not aware we have — that is until either someone tells us or we can see it for ourselves. To learn from your mistakes, you can record video of your golf swing via a tripod or a friend who’s on the course with you. You can use this as an opportunity for some practice, then watch the video later on with a notepad and pen in hand. As you’re watching and replaying your golf swing, take note of your stance, balance, grip and other techniques that assist with making the perfect golf swing.

Or Hire a Golf Teacher

Instead of recording yourself, you can also hire a golf teacher to show you the ropes. This hands-on approach can be better for visual players who learn best with a coach by their side to physically point out flaws and readjust form.

Double Check that Your Golf Clubs are Properly Sized

Since every golfer is different, it’s only appropriate that every golfer has properly sized clubs based on their height. Your golf clubs should be the same length as the distance from the ground to the tips of your fingers when your arms are relaxed at your sides. If this is not the case for you, unfortunately you might have to purchase a new set of clubs that align more with your height. However, this will pay off in the long run by improving your overall game.

Practice Your Balance

If your feet move and become unbalanced during your swing, your hands and body will try to realign that balance — which can heavily affect the outcome of your swing since it relies on your hands being properly placed. You will want to practice your balance. Try swinging your club while standing on the foam log. Although this sounds like it’s a difficult feat to accomplish, once you have mastered balancing on the log, keeping your feet balanced on solid ground will be a whole lot easier.

Watch Your Hand Placement

You don’t want to keep your hands too high on the club, or else you won’t have as much control, and therefore the ball might not go in the direction you need it to go. When you keep your hands low, you will have more control and you can actually lower the flight of the ball — which is great for certain shots that need a lower trajectory.
